Venturing into the World of Consulting: Insights from my Internship at FTI Delta
My name is Norman El Chahni, and I recently graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) with a degree in Industrial Engineering. My professional journey with FTI Delta commenced immediately after graduation, where I embarked on a role as a Business Analyst Intern in the Dubai office. For 5 months, I immersed myself in continuous learning, poured dedication into my work, and have been honored with a return offer to further contribute and thrive as a Business Analyst at FTI Delta.
How It All Started
My introduction to FTI Delta unfolded during the AUB Fall 2022 recruitment presentation, where my initial lack of knowledge about the firm quickly transformed into a strong inclination to make it one of my top choices for job applications.
My journey with FTI Delta began after having successfully secured an internship position back in 2022. A few months later, I had the privilege of actively supporting the team during the AUB Spring 2023 recruitment cycle. This experience marked the first tangible sense of inclusiveness from these amazing people, further solidifying my appreciation for the company's culture and fostering a strong connection with my colleagues.
The Pulp of the Journey
During my internship, I embarked on a transformative journey that not only sharpened my technical skills but also significantly enriched my soft skills. Immersed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, I learned to navigate complexities with agility and precision.
On the technical front, I discovered that PowerPoint was more than just a presentation tool; it became a medium through which I mastered the art of conveying complex ideas with simplicity and conciseness. Crafting presentations that could effectively communicate intricate concepts to clients proved to be an invaluable skill. Additionally, by delving into Excel, I honed my ability to extract valuable insights from extensive data sets. This skill was pivotal, as skillful data handling often holds the key to solving intricate problems.
However, the learning curve extended beyond technical proficiency. My internship played a crucial role in the development of my soft skills. Critical thinking became second nature as I was consistently challenged to approach problems from multiple perspectives, fostering the ability to devise innovative solutions. Effective communication, both verbal and written, emerged as a cornerstone in my interactions with team members and the client, ensuring clarity and impact in conveying ideas.
Moreover, my capacity to work collaboratively in diverse teams experienced significant growth. This experience emphasized the importance of embracing different viewpoints and highlighted the power of teamwork in achieving shared objectives.
A Quick Reflection
As my internship journey with FTI Delta concluded, I found myself reflecting on the incredible individuals I had the privilege of meeting and working alongside. From the dedicated team in the Dubai office to the supportive staff encountered during the recruitment process, each person played an integral role in shaping my experience, making it both enriching and memorable.
Looking forward, I am thrilled to continue my journey with FTI Delta in the role of a Business Analyst. The prospect of contributing more significantly to the team and taking on new and challenging projects fills me with excitement. I am eager to leverage the skills I acquired during my internship, applying them in practical scenarios and, in turn, further developing my expertise in this dynamic and evolving field. The support and camaraderie I've experienced within the FTI Delta community have only fueled my enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead.
