Carlyn Taylor specializes in strategy, business transformation, restructuring and transaction-related services. She has 30 years of experience and has led hundreds of engagements. Ms. Taylor is widely recognized for her industry expertise in telecom, media and technology (“TMT”), as well as other industries, including retail, healthcare and industrial.

Ms. Taylor led the launch of FTI Consulting’s Business Transformation practice within Corporate Finance & Restructuring, growing revenues 18-22% per year and creating a global practice with hundreds of professionals in a wide range of functions and industries.

As a trusted partner, Ms. Taylor takes a collaborative approach in providing strategic counsel to optimize outcomes for clients, such as AT&T, Level 3 Communications, Staples, Brinks Home Security, Lifescan, Windstream, Charter Communications, Sprint, Condé Nast, Hearst, Lightower, Securus Technologies, E.W. Scripps, Meredith, Media General, Postmedia, Trusted Media Brands, Fairpoint and Integra Telecom. Her clients also include major financial institutions and private equity funds, such as Platinum Equity, HIG Capital, JPMorgan, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Eaton Vance, Citigroup, One Equity Partners, Anchorage Capital, Morgan Stanley, TD Securities and Silverpoint Capital.

In the mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”) arena, Ms. Taylor advises on all aspects of transactions across the deal continuum involving both healthy and financially distressed targets for diverse client interests, ranging from buyers and sellers to financing sources and private equity investors. She has led over 140 restructuring and bankruptcy engagements, advising debtors and creditors on cases such as Tribune Company, Charter Communications, Windstream, Dex Media, Petsmart, Integra Telecom, Global Crossing, Hawaiian Telcom, Genuity, XO Communications, Williams Communications, Excite@Home, Qwest, MFN, Allegiance Telecom, Teligent and Broadwing.

Sought for Ms. Taylor’s vast industry expertise, she has provided expert witness testimony in dozens of litigations, arbitrations and other cases involving lost revenue and profits, valuation and telecom industry trends. Among her notable engagements are the bondholder litigation objecting to the BCE LBO transaction in Canada, multiple Delaware Chancery court appraisal actions involving telecom industry M&A, the minority shareholder litigation objecting to Carl Icahn’s buying the remaining public shares of XO Communications, the bondholder trustee litigation in Excite@Home and defending Columbia/HCA against a multibillion-dollar claim.

Prior to Ms. Taylor’s appointment as Global Co-Leader, Ms. Taylor founded the firm’s TMT industry practice and served as its National Leader. Over a 20-year period, she built a leading TMT industry consultancy, which today is a global team of more than 120 professionals situated throughout the U.S. and United Kingdom. Ms. Taylor joined FTI Consulting with the acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ BRS group in 2002.

Ms. Taylor holds a B.S. and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California, where she graduated as valedictorian. Ms. Taylor holds investment banking licenses from and is a registered general securities principal with FINRA. In 2016, she was named Woman of the Year in Restructuring by the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation.
